Doctors’ Orders: Get Walking on the ERT with EVMS

by | Aug 17, 2021

There’s a lot to love about the Elizabeth River Trail. It’s a great place to bike, run, and catch a sunset, among other activities. Walking, which is remarkably accessible, is one of the easiest ways to boost your physical and mental health. The benefits of walking are well-documented, which is why so many doctors recommend it.

For one day, a handful of doctors want to make our city’s ERT an even more significant destination to promote wellness. Several healthcare providers and residents of EVMS are bringing Prescribe-A-Trail, a series of community health walks, to the Elizabeth River Trail. Over roughly one mile, these medical professionals will be leading a walk and offering something akin to ‘open office hours.’ Community members can ask their general health questions and enjoy casual conversation along the trail.

Dr. Stamas, Dr. Vomer, and Dr. York are eager to walk and talk with you!

The events are free and open to the public, with all fitness levels welcome. No registration is required.

Walks begin at the Plum Point Park Trailhead located behind Fort Norfolk Plaza. Free parking is available in the Fort Norfolk Garage located at 301 Riverview Ave, Norfolk, VA 23510. In the case of inclement weather, EVMS will cancel the event.
