Sunsets on the River Return at Hermitage Museum and Gardens

by | Jun 7, 2021

This year, making a comeback is the much anticipated “Sunsets on the River” hosted by the Hermitage Museum & Gardens. With help from local radio stations 96X and BOBFM, the award-winning outdoor concert series is back in full swing, with the first show kicking off this Thursday from 6 to 9 PM. So without further ado, let’s catch you up to speed on what to expect on the first night’s festivities:

The lovely outside venue, located on the Hermitage Museum & Garden’s spacious lawn, will be available for all to come and stake their spots officially at 5:30 PM. Non-member guests can purchase tickets at the gate for $12 (Heritage members and children under five will receive free admission). As for parking, there will be limited space available on site. So if you want to snag a spot close by, your best bet would be to arrive before 6 PM (or else accept street parking as your reality). Accessible parking spots will also be in short supply on the grounds.

Now for what is allowed and what is NOT allowed. Guests are more than welcome to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and food for their own comfort needs; however, no outside alcohol is allowed  (there will be plenty of options to choose from at the on-location bar). Dogs will also be allowed to enjoy the fun as long as they are well-behaved and properly leashed. Lastly, no ball sports of any kind will be permitted on the premises, but don’t fret! It wouldn’t be an outdoor concert series without live music entertainment, which brings us to the fun stuff.

Providing the sonic atmosphere for the evening is rock n’ roll outfit Bennett Wales & The Relief. The Virginia Beach-based band is known for its rich blend of rock, rhythm & blues, and Americana. And of course, to accompany the music, you have to have food and drink.

The evening’s dinner options range from YNOT Pizza’s Italian food and Miki’s Doghouse hotdogs, sausages and sandwiches, to dessert with tasty treats from Just Cupcakes. And yes, with all the food, you might be a little thirsty, so Hermitage has got you covered with a bar full of craft beer and wine selections.

Thursday will be the first “Sunsets on the River” concert since 2019! So you owe it to yourself to have an enjoyable night with other members of your community for a night of long-overdue live music, good eats, and drinks in a majestic outdoor space.
