Local musician Jordan Greenough recently sat down for an interview on The Currents podcast to discuss his new record store and DIY space, Not for the Week Records, located in downtown Norfolk. Greenough explained his background playing in punk bands in the area and how the store grew organically out of the music community. He emphasized the welcoming, communal nature of punk and hardcore shows and described supporting other bands by booking shows, letting them keep all proceeds, and then receiving the same support when his bands tour. The store carries mostly punk records and merchandise but Greenough encouraged listeners to come in, start up a dialogue, and suggest inventory they’d like to see. He gave a shoutout to local artist Art Hags who helped decorate the space and keeps it feeling homey. It was an insightful look into the local punk scene and Greenough’s mission to create an open, artistic space for music fans of all backgrounds.
