Get Well Soon with this Self-Care Sanctuary

by | Oct 28, 2021

If the past year and a half has taught us anything, it’s that taking care of your mental health needs to be a priority. While the normal everyday stresses of life can be overwhelming, the pandemic added another layer of issues. With 1 in 4 Americans on antidepressants or suffering from anxiety or depression, self-care is more important than ever.

Get Well Soon opened in Norfolk at the perfect time back in February  2020. This self-care sanctuary allows people to put the focus on themselves. Offering services varying from guided meditation to facials and infrared sauna, there is truly a self-care option at Get Well Soon for everyone.

How Get Well Soon Came to be

Founders of Get Well Soon, Virginia Thornton and Zahra Ahmad, are two friends who both suffered from anxiety and depression. While this was a topic people didn’t really talk about, they eventually realized that more of their friends and family had similar struggles than they knew. After seeing such a need in their local community for prioritizing mental health, they decided to start a business that would bring all the things that had helped them in their own self-care journeys under one roof.

“What inspired Get Well Soon was our realization that at the end of the day, we must solely be responsible for making ourselves a priority and working towards our own happiness,” Virginia and Zahra said. “We both suffered with anxiety and depression and realized that relationships, friendships, jobs, basically everything comes and goes, so we must be ok with being on our own and finding things that bring us happiness regardless of anything else. We both really enjoy all the services offered at Get Well Soon and have used them to help us through trying times. We wanted to create a space that offered these services to individuals – and our self-care sanctuary was birthed.”

What to Expect

Get Well Soon is a relaxing escape from the stresses of everyday life as soon as you step foot inside. Every sense is immediately calmed, from the soothing color scheme used throughout, to the bright and clean smell that fills the space, to the peaceful sound of gentle rain in the background. Their plant game is also strong, giving customers an extra mood boost. You can’t help but feel warm and fuzzy just walking through the door, so just imagine how you feel after the full experience!

Their wide range of services offered cover both inward to outward wellness, including guided meditation, infrared sauna, yoga, massages, facials, and waxing.

For those looking to decompress and put a little more focus on themselves, Get Well Soon is the perfect retreat for maintaining wellness. Since the business owners have gone through mental health struggles themselves, the entire space and experience is catered to knowing exactly what customers need, bringing guests the best treatment possible.

The most rewarding part of coming to work each day for Virginia and Zahra is getting the opportunity to help others. “We love being able to bring all demographics together – all ages – men and women, for fun healing services and events. We also like creating and innovating a lot and enjoy being able to come up with cute merch and social club events that incorporate wellness in a less traditional, more fun way.”
