This Saturday, GRILLED OUT, LAVA Presents the annual cookout-themed, indie rock psychedelic, surf rock, outdoor concert returns to Toast for its third edition.
If hamburgers and hotdogs are your thing or perhaps you’re a fan of Dan Deacon, Snake Mountain Revival, Long Division, Berries, Shormey, Karacell, and Alex Silva, then get ready for a good time. Doors open at 4 pm, and music kicks off at 4:45 pm.
Let’s meet the line-up.
Dan Deacon, hailing from Baltimore, recently dropped a soundtrack for “Hustle”, a new Adam Sandler movie, and most importantly putting on an unforgettable show at LAVA Music Festival 2015, Dan Deacon is set to headline GRILLED OUT this Saturday. Prepare yourselves beautiful dance extravaganza. Check it out here to know what you’re in for.
Snake Mountain Revival, from VB, dropped their debut full-length last year, “Everything In Sight” and has been making waves in the psych-rock scene. They bring out a unique liquid light show projected from an old-school overhead projector and really know how to bring it.
Berries, a local indie pop/surf rock outfit has been pumping out music over the last two years. Dropping their debut full-length “Soliloquy Road” at the beginning of the pandemic, releasing “Outgrowth” EP last spring, and recently releasing their single, “Deep Down Under”, they’ve clearly been hard at work and their sound keeps growing. Listen to Berries here.
Shormey, a 757 native who moved to RVA will return for GRILLED OUT with her full band. Shormey’s music is groovy, disco, indie vibes, and guaranteed to get you dancing. Rumor has it, that she may be joining Berries on-stage for their 2021 collaboration “In the Night.”
Long Division, a long-time Norfolk post-rock staple will be hitting the stage for their first performance since July 2021. Last August they dropped a surprise EP titled, “Caesura” and have added a new member as well. They are tried and true and hearing their classic post-rock sound never gets old. Listen to Long Division here.
Karacell, another long-time Norfolk staple has been on the scene since 2009 – adding to the list of several local 757 bands that have been actively playing for nearly a decade or more. Karacell brings more danceable, electronic music to the GRILLED OUT line-up and will be heating things up second on the bill. Listen to Karacell here.
Alex Silva performs well-composed, thoughtful electronic music and draws influence from his early days in punk bands while growing up in Spain. Alex Silva now lives in Baltimore and is a part of the Dan Deacon camp and will be kicking things off at GRILLED OUT on Saturday. Listen to Alex Silva here.
If all of this sounds like a good time to you – snag tickets ahead of time and save some money. Tickets for GRILLED OUT are cheaper in advance with several options to save: $15 physical tickets at Toast or online for $17 / 4+ for $14 each. Tickets will be $20 day of the show. This event is rain or shine!
