Attention all lovers of food, supporting local, and spooky season.
Sunday, October 17th will bring a food collaboration at Maker’s Craft Brewery unlike anything Norfolk, or even Hampton Roads, has seen before. While the area boasts several wonderful restaurant weeks and farmer’s markets, there’s a new culinary creation on the scene.
My Commissary Kitchen, an incubator kitchen that’s home to over 20 food-focused small business owners, is collaborating with Maker’s Craft Brewery to debut all their delectable culinary creations under one roof for the Norfolk community to enjoy. This series of “foodie affairs” known as 757 Fork You was established for locals by locals. 757 Fork You has a mission to provide the opportunity for small businesses to share their artistry, aim to make food more accessible in an existing food desert, and strive to celebrate within the area the diversity of local food.
Crystal, owner of NuLand Hot Stuff Company and a vendor at the first foodie roundup, shared that the collective group of My Commissary Kitchen collaborators were looking for a way to share their creations in a unique way with their local Norfolk community. “The idea was born out of the mission to provide an opportunity for the businesses, who rent from My Commissary Kitchen, where our culinary creations of all sorts take place, and debut our fares all-together, under one roof. Really the only local event we have here in our area is Restaurant week, in which the patron would have to pick one at a time to experience. This will enable patrons to visit all sorts of Culinary Magic from one booth to the next, right in one event room.”
This roundup of culinary businesses sharing their mastery will occur on a monthly basis, with different themed events taking place at Maker’s Craft each month. Since October kicks off the premiere, it’s only fitting that Halloween is the theme, with each vendor incorporating pumpkin into their vittles. For example, Crystal with NuLand Hot Stuff Company will be offering a seasonal pumpkin spice hot sauce as part of her hot sauce lineup for sampling.
