Reaver Beach Brewing Co. is throwing a Pride Popup Event that’s sure to be a blast! Come on down on Saturday, June 10th from 1-5 pm to check out a lineup of local queer/ally-owned businesses, as well as a kickoff event from Hampton Roads Pride. There will be food, drinks, music, drag, and a whole lot more popping up on Colley Ave.
“We proudly support and employ members of the LGBTQIA+ community year-round,” said Reaver Beach’s event manager Kourtney Houghtaling. “We wanted to put together a special event for Pride in June to show our support and celebrate the diversity of our community.”
The main course of the event is a pop-up market of local queer- and ally-owned shops, with pop-ups from local LGBTQ+ organizations: Hampton Roads Pride, LGBT Life Center, and Stonewall Sports. The market is expected to be a riot of color and sound, with vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry to candles and handmade wood items. As people from all walks of life come together to support the community, the atmosphere will be palpably electric.
Some of the vendors for the Pride Pop-Up include:
- Anarchy in the Attic
- BasilWorm Weavings
- Bee Lysko Art
- Blair Family Woodcraft
- The Intuitive Rock
- LGBT Life Center
- Norfolk Candle
- Pawsnickety Pets
- Sam Makes Things
- Stonewall Sports
- Sylene’s Gems
- Tumbeezy Cookies
To give back to the community, Reaver Beach Brewing Co. will be donating a percentage of sales from its Teredo – Key Lime Pie Fruited Sour to the LGBT Life Center. The beer will be available for purchase at both Reaver Beach Brewing Co. taprooms in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
The Pride Popup Event culminates with the Pride-Fest Drag Show at 9:00 pm. Hosted by Javon Love, the show will feature some of the best drag queens in the area. But that’s not all – some friends at Norfolk Animal Care Center will also be joining the show, bringing some of their animals for a special runway show. A night of fabulous drag, furry friends, and craft drafts awaits attendees.
Tickets for the drag show are $11 ahead of time and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite.
